“I believe there is a profound joy in the act of creation—in the transformation of a blank surface into a narrative that breathes. My mission is for every viewer to feel the pulse of the emotion I weave into the pigment.”
BIJU RAJAN
Visual Artist | Master of Expressive Realism
I am a self-taught visual artist based in Alappuzha, Kerala, a region defined by its tranquil backwaters and deep-rooted traditions. My work serves as a bridge, connecting the vibrant heritage of Southern India with the universal language of human emotion.
My career is a testament to what I call the "Artist’s Instinct." My path began with a primary school win in a regional pencil drawing competition, but my true education happened in private. I spent my formative years deconstructing the mastery found in international art journals, teaching myself the nuances of light, form, and composition. This rigorous, independent study allowed me to evolve from a local enthusiast into an artist with a global perspective.
Working across Oil, Acrylic, and Watercolor, I specialize in Expressive Realism. To me, a painting should never be a mere replication of a reference; it must be a reinterpretation.
I often use photographs or digital foundations as a skeletal structure, but my goal is to breathe life into the subject through my own hand. Whether I am painting the weathered faces of rural life, the intricate iconography of Indian spirituality, or the raw beauty of the natural world, I am searching for the story beneath the surface.
